Fundraiser Off to a Slow Start

By Robert Parry
June 30, 2008

Our mid-year fundraiser is off to a slow start. So far we’ve raised only $2,000 toward our goal of $40,000.

I realize times are tough – and there are plenty of financial demands on everyone – but sadly a big part of the reason for the mess we’re in is that the American people were not armed with the information they needed to make sound judgments at key moments.

Simply put, those of us who tried to tell the truth were out-gunned by powerful interests who had the money to spread lies and propaganda. (For an example of how this worked, see Consortiumnews.com’s “Iran-Contra’s ‘Lost Chapter.’”)

Though we’ll never match them in resources, we need at least enough money to report the most important stories and present them to you, our readers.

We also hope to add a video component to the Web site as we cover events in the four months to Election 2008.

So, please contribute what you can. Support for truthful journalism may be the best investment anyone can make.

You can make your tax-deductible donation by credit card online or by mailing a check to:

Consortium for Independent Journalism (CIJ)
Suite 102-231
2200 Wilson Blvd.
Arlington VA 22201

(For readers wanting to use PayPal, you can address contributions to our account, which is named "[email protected].")

As a thank-you gift for donations of $100, we will send you an autographed paperback copy of our latest book, Neck Deep: The Disastrous Presidency of George W. Bush. (Or, if you prefer, you can request a substitution of either Robert Parry’s Lost History or his Secrecy & Privilege.)

For donations of $150 or more, we will send you an autographed gift copy of the hard-cover Neck Deep. (Or you can request a substitution of one of the other books – or one of the few remaining copies of Robert Parry’s Trick or Treason – while supplies last.)

If you don’t want any gift, just send us an e-mail saying so.

As always, thank you for your support.

Robert Parry broke many of the Iran-Contra stories in the 1980s for the Associated Press and Newsweek. His latest book, Neck Deep: The Disastrous Presidency of George W. Bush, was written with two of his sons, Sam and Nat, and can be ordered at neckdeepbook.com. His two previous books, Secrecy & Privilege: The Rise of the Bush Dynasty from Watergate to Iraq and Lost History: Contras, Cocaine, the Press & 'Project Truth' are also available there. Or go to Amazon.com.
