Amid the political battles over gasoline prices and offshore oil drilling, less attention has gone to the looming crisis over global warming.

Both presidential candidates John McCain and Barack Obama say they would make global warming a top priority, but it’s less clear they would show the urgency that NASA’s Dr. James Hansen says is required to avert the world reaching a catastrophic “tipping point."
