Honduras Tilts Toward Revolution

September 21, 2009

The struggle against the Honduran coup regime continues, with members of the resistance challenging the authorities at traditional Independence Day celebrations and in the streets.

The National Coalition Against the Coup now declares that it is seeking more than just the return of elected President Zelaya, but also a path toward "real independence, both economic and social." The coalition asserts that the best way to achieve that goal is through a national assembly that rewrites the constitution which dates back to an earlier era of military regimes.
